Coffee farming in Machakos and Makueni counties may come to instinct in near future due to climatical change if proper measures area not taken.

An expert in climatical change and project management Wajira Njeru, disclosed this to coffee farmers’ representatives at a one day seminar for coffee societies, chairmen , secretaries , treasurers and factory managers from the two counties in Machakos town.

Wajira said the current climatical data shows within given time the coffee farming in the region will be a thing of the past if measures are not taken to restore green environmental nature that attracts rain.

She also told the management team to embark on coffee certification to fetch more money of the produce.

She said areas where coffee certification has been in practice the farmers get high prices of their coffee due to its quality and production.
